It's all relative, compared to soccer skirt man, this cousin is wrapped pretty tight....... but yeah, I have to agree with the above.
My general feeling is that for the kilt to come into modern acceptance, it has to evolve into a modern garment. Hopefully it can happen while preserving the traditions that make it such a grand garment.
Can't say that this strikes me as a step in the right direction. There is a lesson in that pic, but I lack to the fortitude and the will to uncover it.
But hey, if he is having a good time - he might be inspired to learn more. Let us pray.
