Just to report, we had a rousing night despite the approaching cold, with about a dozen attendees.

The evening included a moving Address to the Haggis given by the inestimable Chef, which was enjoyed not only by ourselves, but by all the other diners in the restaurant! In the course of giving it, though, Chef was so carried away while stabbing the haggis, that he shattered the charger it was on into several pieces! The comment was made that this is the result when one uses a Scottish knife on an English plate.

The Immortal Memory was given (despite the speaker having left the text of the speech home ), and the Toast to the Lassies was given by the professioral Cirthalion in Burnsian verse! His consort read a poem by Burns on Women in reply. This was followed by various attendees reading poems from Burns' opus.

We even had Bobbie Burns himself come to our table to express his appreciation!!! And we have his id to prove that it was he. [/QUOTE]
