My wife and I frequently go to a local Mexican restaurant with my son and his wife to be. There is a Scotsman from Glasgow that moved here 15 years ago with his English wife. They frequent the same Mexican restaurant and he always comes over to say hello because he spots my kilt. He and his wife were at the bar, and I had to go over to visit after I finished my meal. They are probably in their mid-fifties and just a delight to talk to. He was wearing a Scotland t-shirt and tartan shorts.

Anyway, he does not own a kilt. Relating a story were he and a friend from Scotland were vacationing in one of the tropical islands. His friend, wearing a kilt got a few drinks down him and told him "we're going out and your going to wear a kilt." His friend had an extra with him. "No I'm not. I'm a lowlander." Later, probably a few drinks later, "Well OK, but I'm not taking off my underwear. His friend - "Why that's sacrilege!" Well he wound up wearing the kilt (regimental) and was amazed at how cool and comfortable it was.

Well to make a long story short, I'm inviting this Scotsman and his wife out to diner. Little does he know, but this Scotsman, lowlander or not, is going to find a wool Black Watch kilt showing up at his doorstep. I'm going to order him one from Stillwater. When we go out to diner I'll wear my Black Watch as well. I'll leave the underwear or no underwear decision to him.
