That is a good looking kilt - it looks really neat.
Will we be getting pictures of it being worn?
I do all my DPM materials cut across from selvage to selvage - it is easy enough to join the pieces at the inner fold of a pleat, and it puts the pattern the right way round - you have to do the same with pinstripes and corduroy, but it is no problem.
I join from the lower edge to the bottom of the fell on the sewing machine and then sew the rest by hand once the taper has been put in.
I don't think it is really vital with all DPMs as the direction is not so obvious with all the different modern patterns, at least - it looks that way to me. With most of the older patterns it is obviously directional, I think.
