I realized this morning that I own a beautiful folding knife. Was made to be worn in a belt pouch and I keep it there so hardly ever see it. The handle is inlaid with turquoise and other stones. Was made by a Navajo craftsman. I bought it at a roadside booth out on the rez about five years ago.

Got to wondering if I could use it as a sgian dubh by opening it up and sticking the blade in a sheath. After all, the purpose of the sgian dubh these days is decorative beauty.

Playing with it I found it looks nice save the part that has the little push thingie to refold the blade. Don't think anyone would notice that.

But because the handle is so thick and inlaid with stone it really seems top heavy. Gonna play around with it some more.

Wondering if anyone else has converted one of their folding knives for sgian dubh use??
