As I mentioned elsewhere on the forum, my son (let's call him YOUNG Argonian...he won't like that but he doesn't like most of what I do these days so...) is starting his semester abroad in London in a few days.

Both his mom and I have been to London a couple of times and have tried to fill him in on the basics:

How to tell and "Old Chap" from an "Old Bean".

How to distinguish between a "bounder" and a "blighter".

The difference between a boot and a bonnet...what a lift is...that lorry is a truck and not an old German actor...that Alec Guinness didn't invent stout and that the UK is a fantastic place that he's going to enjoy very much.

If any of you who live in or around London would be kind enough to let me know if there are any things that my son should be aware of, I'd be grateful for the advice. It's been a long time since I've been there and I know that things have changed.

I've told him that he should consider a side trip to Dumfries and that, if he should decide to do that, I'd be happy to spring for a stay at Ferintosh House for him. The school will be taking them to Wales for a week but I'm not sure exactly what the precise plan is on that one.

As I say, anything that he might want to be sure to see...and anything that he should probably avoid...I'd be grateful for the advice.

Best

AA

ps: ...and you'll be happy to know that he will not be bringing a FANNY PACK with him!
