I don't know where this question should go (moderators move this if it is necessary)...

I've seen several kilts with fringed hems. I don't really have any way to compare the quality to my tank but got to wondering if this is a common practice?

Is there an historical precedent?

The fringed hem doesn't look all that bad to me and I was thinking about a Stillwater heavy for knocking around and fringing rather than hemming bottom edge (they're all too long for me.
