I've already posted a picture of myself in this thread but wanted to add that I found that this is apparently the "Modern" Ladies' National Dress in Scotland according to scottishpatterns.com.

While I might potentially wear the tartan skirt, sash, and shoes...I'm not particularly fond of that style of vest (don't like the lumpy bottom) and I wouldn't ever wear the extremely poofy sleeves.
I did however come up with a modernized version of this using a ladies' kilt, white short sleeved chemise (shirt), knee length black socks (could be substituted with nylons, but I hate nylons), some dark flashes to add a little pop to the socks, leather ballet flats, and a black corset. I have not yet acquired this outfit, but I used a photo-editor to create it to show my hubby why I needed a corset. This is something I would wear out with my hubby kilted. I think it says Scottish without stepping on any male toes.
