My bedroom window looks across the valley to the Target Hills. The nearer and lower ridge on which stands the television mast is the Millers' Knowes.
A hike down towards town and back up the other side of the valley brings me to the television mast. Several communications companies rent the right to have their separate pieces of apparatus hung on the mast. Until last month we could receive up to four television channels via this relay mast, now with the conversion of the signal from analogue to digital more than twenty channels have become available.
With my new camera which my wife gave me for Christmas I can zoom in on my house from here (top row, white patio door)
The view across town towards the south-west. Dumfries is about fifty miles in this direction.
The same view, focussing in on Lothian Street, with the Town Hall Clock Tower behind.
Enjoying the View
It's never too cold to wear a kilt. You would expect that the light weight bleached blue denim Trojan from Midasclothing.com would only be suitable for summer wear, yet it is surprisingly warm for going for a hike on a calm wintry day with the temperature hovering around freezing point.
Concluding this photoshoot with a look westwards in the direction of Glasgow, about eighty miles away.
