So since several people have been pming me to ask about it, here's my pattern.



I decided at the last minute to off-center the hole so there would be a more pronounced tilt. I think it would look good either way though. I didn't put on the cockade, I might do that at some other point. I didn't include the ribbons at the back in my pattern draft. For a baby or toddler this is a potential choking hazard. I suppose if you really want them, they would be okay for a 5+ child.

I used 1/2 inch black polar fleece blanket binding for the headband. This is both soft and stretchy.

The pattern is for a 6-9 month old, but can easily be adapted. Just find something round to trace around that has the approximate diameter of your child's head (try a cereal bowl). That would be the hole, then multiply by 2 to get the diameter of the top and bottom circles. You may want to add another inch or two depending on how floppy you want the hat. When in doubt, err on the side of bigger for these large circles (I used a mixing bowl to trace).
