Braveheart tartan "Bobolishious" kilt review
I think I am the second on the forum to have purchased one of the 8yd 16oz Braveheart tartan (the original tartan worn by Mel Gibson in the movie of the same name) kilts manufactured by ebay vendor Bobolishious. Time to show the pics and give my review.
The tartan is beautiful, albeit not patternwise the same style of tartan we are all used to. Not quite a tight twill like we are used to, beautiful browns, greys, and blacks in a repeating but asymmetric sett in a looser and bulkier weave than the usual tartan of similar 16oz weight. The fabric must not come with a kilt selvedge as the bottom of the kilt is hemmed. Deep and plentiful pleats, appears likely machine sewn, crisp pleats, well fitting body with the usual three (substantial ) quality buckles and standard knife pleat build with double fringe. I think Bob got a lot of orders in a short period of time before xmas becasue mine took about 7 weeks from the time I won the auction, but part of that may have been my fault because I may have neglected to include my measurements on my ebay invoice payment. All in all very nice material and workmanship for a 16oz tank in non-traditional tartan from a quality kiltmaker in Glasgow, Scotland. If he comes up with other tartans I am interested in I will certainly buy more. I would even consider sending him fabric to make up a kilt for me, if his prices for manufacture are anywhere near comparable to those for his ebay auctions.

Positives: Gorgeous non-traditional tartan with lovely earthy tones, quality custom build and materials, value for price paid
Negatives: wish this guy had his own website where he made and sold similar quality custom kilts at these kinds of prices in a larger variety of tartans
