I think bemused is the word ...
So a lady I work with, who has asked others here questions when I wear a kilt to the office (which is once or twice a week), finally said something to me today. (I'm kilted today.) I had gotten a cup of coffee and was on my way back to my office, past her desk, and she said, "Are you in a band?"
"No," I replied.
"Oh, so ... do you play the bagpipes?"
"No."
"Oh ... so ... you ... just have that outfit?"
"Yes."
The look on her face at that point was priceless. I believe you can find it in the dictionary under "bemused."
