Socks and shoes
Hi, I just received my first kilt (original black utilikilt) about a week or two ago and I'm already hooked... I'm planning on getting a tan original with my next paycheck! Now, school season is almost here and along with it some colder weather is on the way. I've been wearing the kilt almost constantly and want to continue doing so as far into the winter as I can.
My first question is, what kind of socks would work out better with a utilikilt? I've searched and searched, but all the results end up having to do with traditional kilt hose. The two types of socks that I've been looking at are these thigh high socks (which I think are the same ones that are being sold on the Utilikilts website as 3/4 leg socks) and the diamond rib knee high socks that I saw recommended on a blog somewhere. It seems the thigh high socks would work well for keeping the legs warm, but I'm wondering how they actually look in action. I'm not a particular fan of the combat boots/scrunched sock look, so I'm talking about them being pulled straight up to the thigh. Or are there any other recommendations?
My other question is about shoes. Now that I've gotten a kilt I've started paying more attention to how I look than jeans+tshirt+sneakers. Can anyone recommend a durable brand of shoes that would not look out of place in casual (tshirt) to more formal (polo/button up shirt) situations?
Thanks for you time!
