I'm not actually sure that's necessary. I'm inclinded to do a felled seem (like what the yoke on jeans have, usually), which would hide the discontinuity of the ending pleated section. I'll do a couple trials, I think, when I get there.

(The fabric I've got for this cost less than a buck a yard. So I won't feel too out of sorts if all I get out of the first shot is an improved pattern, and no kilt.)
