Highlander invades Vernonia
I figured I would share this photo as I think that some of you may get a kick out of it. Cheesy grin and all!

Several weeks ago a friend and I went to a Reenactment/Black Powder shoot.
Me being the good Highland soldier I am, decided to wear my full compliment of Highland garb and weapons.
The rendezvous was being held at the same time as the annual festival/parade for this little town Vernonia, which is a sleepy little logging town nestled in the foothills of the coast range about half-way to the beach from Portland.
My friend and I decided to head into town to pick up some supplies.
I was surprised to find out how well all those small-town folk received me. I walked into the store expecting a lot of "who the hell is that weirdo!?!?!?!" kind of reactions, but everyone seemed very curious and amused.
It just goes to show that you can be very pleasantly surprised at people's reactions to the kilt in the places where you would expect quite the opposite.
Vernonia is indeed a nice place for a Highland soldier to purchase his victuals.
Wear your kilt proudly, but carry a big stick
