I've tried this twice, once in a trad kilt and once in a contemporary, and both times security was a ROYAL PITA. It upset my son tremendously to see his Dad treated like a criminal. If I'd been wearing shorts and a snap beeped the metal detector, I'd have been given a cursory wand and sent away. In a kilt, when the buckles beeped, I was practically strip searched. They fondled the kilt so much, i felt like I needed a cigarette...never again.
