It feels sharp but isn't. I ran it across a finger and it did not cut with pressure it might. I'm sure it'll do damagae to a haggis on Burn's night. The blade, being stainless I'm sure can be honed to an very sharp edge should you choose. I thought about sharpening it but I don't feel a need too. It certainly looks very sharp but it shouldn't be confiscated by a doorman and the local. Sgians are sold for ceremonial purposes now, not as weapons. Some might find a use for a sharpened blade, should I need that I'd rather slip a Leatherman multitool in my sporran. I don't know if Rab's knives are sold sharpened or not. I would suggest that if interested perhaps Comrie Crafts would sell one sharpened if asked.
