My $112.00 flashes!
No, I didn't really go out and spend $112.00 on flashes. Today is my wife's birthday, and, at her request, I bought her a sewing machine. The end result (for me) her first project was a set of grosgrain flashes, with a little prompting from me, of course. This is her first time using a sewing machine in about 9 or 10 years, so we started with something simple.

I think I should have gotten wider ribbon. This was only 7/8 inch wide. I do believe I will look for some wider ribbon later. This was the widest available in that green from our local Wal~Mart.
Now, how to convince her to make kilts....
