A few months ago I bought a cloth of the Royal Stuart tartan from e-bay. This cloth is also later reviewed in another thread here on the forum. The cloth was a wool blend, quit heavy, but loosely woven. It was not suited for kiltmaking but I thought I could try to make a minikilt for my youngest daughter.
As I did with my 8 yrd Lesslie kilt (Norsekilt #1), I followed the instructions from Barbs kilt making bible. I had to constantly make sure that I mirrored the steps, so aprons and pleats went the right way for a girl kilt. I discovered that it was much easier to make kilts pleated the "lady" way since I'm left-handed.
Here are some pictures of the process.
