Horse hair and goat hair sporrans?
Hi guys. I've been thinking about getting myself a goathair sporran with horsehair tassles and a white metal cantle.
I've mainly seen pipe bands wearing these - but when the odd civilian wears one it tends to be on a formal occassion. There've been planty pictures posted on here from the last century all the way back to paintings from the 17th century of civilians wearing these sporrans with tweed jackets... although this may just have been a periodic fashion thing?
I'm wondering what you guys think about when this sort of sporran should be worn - and with what jackets etc.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
