...so I'm not gonna stress over it. Kilts and kilt-like articles of clothing are becoming more common, but the kilt's place seems to be quite firmly set in the public mind, if worn with style as opposed to statement.

I concur. No matter what becomes popular the traditional kilt, and for that matter the modern contemporary kilt was here first and will be here after, as will the folks who wear them. Who knows, maybe it will spur a few people to get into it who will learn to do it right and stay with it. All I know is I can't see the future, or bits and pieces of the past either.
BTW, if a "man purse" is called a Murse, would a "man dress" be a Mess?
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.
