As you all know, my parent's 40th anniversary vow renewal is this weekend. I wanted to make myself a dress sporran, anyway, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity! I made it in the color scheme of my parent's party- partly because it's getting worn tomorrow, but mainly because I like the colors! I got the cantel from Stillwater kits. The tassels are horsehair tassels from Tandy Leather. So- Here are some pictures:
I will be adding a leather stiffener to the hide later this week. I didn't think to do it last night when I was stitching it together.I'd do it now, but that would require me to tear apart the stitching and redo it, and I don't have time for that, so I'm just going to stick the stiffener in unsewn.
The bag- notice it's deep enough to be useful, unlike every other modern dress sporran I've ever seen!
EDIT- Notice the bruise under my thumbnail... I hit my thumb with a hammer when I was making my targe... and that was back before Halloween!
My maker's mark:
Next up- I've been asked to make a hunting sporran!
