Main thing to maintain a pair of shoes is to keep them clean (brush regularly to remove dust and grit and wash with Lexol ph) and conditioned (Lexol conditioner).

I have used Lexol for over 20 years on my leathers, including a pair of old Tony Lama 18" tall Buckaroo boots that are still going strong after nearly 21 years (despite hard use, including flying head over heels off of a green broke cayuse! ).
