The Better half and I have just returned from Bali after 3 glorious weeks of sunshine, good food, friends and enjoyment. I decided to take a couple of kilts with me. One being a modern style made by, who I consider, the best value for money modern kiltmakers, Alt.Kilt and a Highland Clans 13oz House of Edgar MacLaren tartan in ancient colours.
The Alt.Kilt is heavy 11/12oz cotton with detatchable side pockets in tan.
Both kilts were extremely well received with many of the locals associating them with Scotland and insisting that if I wanted another one, they had some in the shop for a good price. If you have been to Bali you will understand what I am talking about. Most of the tourists I bumped into gave them the thumbs up and thought that they were a sensible item to wear in the tropics
Without further ado, a couple of pics
I was also lucky enough to find a tailor who was willing to have a go at producing 2 bespoke kilt jackets and waistcoats, based on photos of HRH Prince Charles's outfits. I chose lightweight wool fabrics based on some posts in a thread on suitable cloth for hot summer climates
Below are 2 sneek peak photos of the results
