I have a similar bottle opener that I bought for the same purpose but haven't had the courage to start on it apart from sanding it down to remove the logo. This has given me some motivation. Great work.

That's really nifty. I especially like the two-tone dying on it.
We knitters would call that a cable; carvers call it a rope; everybody calls it beautiful work.
