Longhunter:
What a superb selection of pictures. I really would love to be able to get to one of your extravaganzas as you always appear to be having such a good time. It would be wonderful to be able to meet and converse face to face and get past the limitations of Forum comms.
It would be ace to be able to enjoy a piece of the obvious good humour and camaraderie that your photo's portray. Thanks for letting us all join in, all be it via the t'interweb.
Brooke:
That is a fabulous jacket, weskit AND kilt. I am most envious.
Jamie n' Star:
Nice to see you out and about. We miss your contributions here. Incidentally, I have just aquired a Nicholson Ancient 8yd 16oz pleated to sett, for a bit of a snip. It fits like it was made for me (I mean exactly my kilt measurements) so I couldn't resist it. It's a gorgeous tartan. We'd look like twins! (Whaddya mean "Ooooh NOOOO"?)
Alan:
You're looking good there Bloke... In fact, cut to the chase, everybody is looking good!!
Crackin' thread, Cheers!

EB: Thanks for the compliments. You are, of course, most welcome to any event that I'm hosting if you were to ever be in close proximity to my location. I'm glad that our jovial atmosphere has managed to be portrayed through the images...because that's who I am as a person. The seriousness of my profession provides enough stress to life. Kilts, hobbies, family and friends are a great balance to the business side of things. You only have one life to live...make the most of it and have a good time doing it!

I fully get the seriousness of your profession, I danced to that tune myself for a good few years. I am fortunate to be out of it now but I do understand your sentiment and appreciate the need to get amongst it with family and friends. I still feel I'm catching up for lost time. Take care mate. Oh. It's John by the way.

Did they have the Drum Major competition this year?
I hope you make it back someday David. It was my first time attending here and, although it is a three hour drive for me, it will definitely be on my must do list for years to come.
The Drum Majors did compete although it was a bit different format than what I am used to. Instead of the competitors lining up across the field and having one pipe band play from the sidelines, here, one at a time, each Drum Major led a full band down the field and back including through a full 90 degree turn both directions. It was a nice twist and more inline with actual Drum Major duties "in the real world"

Thank you John, and the rest for all of the nice comments on the tweed jacket and waistcoat. The texture and pattern is an example of me stepping outside my normal comfort zone, but doing so in the faith I have gained here on Xmarks. However, it is also an example of the challenges of buying online, wherein one vendor's "long" is not the same as the "long" hanging in the closet. In response, I dropped it off at the alteration shop this morning to have the sleeves let out a bit. Fortunately there was plenty of materiel in the inside cuff to work with. With that said, I'm really happy with it and do appreciate all of your kind words of support for my choice.
Best regards,
Brooke

That's how they did it when I was there. I was amazed at the height those Majors could get when they threw the maces.
