It is not being televised in the UK until 8th September this year. I have recorded each one since 2006 and quite often play them back.

Thanks for posting...
rsv...thank you so much for posting the vids. I have always enjoyed going on YouTube to watch the videos from years past. Most of the ones taken by hand have been *****...yours are very good, comparatively.
Senior Drum Major Brian Alexander (the guy out front) is "the man!" He definitely looks the part. We've never met in person, but have chatted via Facebook. He tells me that he's very near retirement...so this may be his last one? He's been "out front" since 2006 or 2007, I think.

Thanks for posting the photos and videos.
To clarify my comment about the shrinkage of piping in the Army, we now have the seven battalions of The Royal Regiment of Scotland (five regular, two territorial) each of which maintain their own pipe band, The Scots Guards, and The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards... and is that it for Scottish military pipe bands? I'm probably missing something. But anyhow that's nine.
Jeannie Campbell writes in Highland Bagpipe Makers:
"In 1900 it was recorded that there were 12 pipe bands in Highland battalions, 8 in other Scottish regiments, 20 Militia (pipe) bands, and 40 to 50 bands in the Volunteer battalions."
That's 80 to 90 Scottish military pipe bands, a bit over 100 years ago.

Interesting statistics, as I have often discussed this topic with mates of mine that are experienced pipers, one of which is P/M Gordon Walker. A consistent, general consensus is simply, "a sign of the times."
Great photos!

Richard i think you have only missed the Royal tank regiment 4 RTR have a band as i think do the Royal Engineers. As you say it's just the way it is at the moment! I hope that it will go full circle again and the pencil pusher up top will come to see the value of the military and their great bands and like the phoenix they will rise from the ashes to play again
