			Tropical weight (linen) kilt jackets

					Now available to purchase!
The Scottish Tartans Museum is very proud to now be able to offer through our gift shop a range of quality, made to measure, tropical weight linen kilt jackets.

Most Highland dress clothing items are made for the Scottish climate -- which is only natural. The problem is that today most people of Scottish descent do not live in Scotland! Those with Scottish heritage are scattered from the Carolinas to California, from Argentina to Australia. What are those who want to honor their Scottish heritage to do who live in warmer climes, and have Highland Games and other events to attend in the summer heat?

The linen kilt jacket is the perfect adaptation of Highland style to warmer climes. The 100% linen shell of this jacket is light weight, comfortable, and great looking to boot!

We are able to offer this jacket in 10 colors, so you are sure to find a shade to compliment your tartan.

Best yet, these are not cheaply made "off the rack" items, but truly made to measure garments. We ask for some essential measurements when you order, but if you have a hard-to-fit shape or require special sizing, just let us know.

I've had mine for several days and really am enjoying it during our late-August heat here in North Carolina. The outside pockets are nice and deep. There are three pockets on the inside left and one on the inside right, so you hardly need to use your sporran. And I love the fact that the buttons on the cuffs are really functional (despite the fact that I know I'll probably never need to unbutton them, it's just nice knowing they are real buttons).

More details are on the web site. Please just let me know if you have questions and I'll do my best to answer!

Ohhh, the Palermo is my favorite, with the Arizona close behind.
I'm fairly certain we'll be discussing this in the near future.

The jacket I am wearing is the Palermo color. I'm really thrilled with it as it looks good with all my kilts.

Those sound nice for their intended use Matt. I am going to the Pleasanton Games this weekend and they are forecasting temps in the high 80s low 90s for the weekend. It would be nice to have one of these to take along.
I am confused by the colors though. Am I understanding you correctly, the jacket color in the photos shown is an example of the Palermo?

The photo swatch of that color looks far more brown than what you are wearing, which looks more blue/green. On the STM web site there is a photo of the cuff shown between two photos of you. If the two photos of you are in the same fabric as the cuff photo, you may want to do something with the photos to more accurately reflect the right color. They actually appear to be very different colors, not just shades of the same color affected by a photograph.

Best of luck with the new line, I look forward to seeing more members sporting these in the future.

 Regards,
 Brooke

But, on another note, these are fantastic!!! I for one will be purchasing a few as these 117 temps in Phoenix are brutal, coupled with the fact that the night lows are usually 89+ it will be a great addition. Thanks Matt!

Yes, the jacket in the photos is Palermo, photographed outside under natural lighting. The close-up of the cuff detail was photographed indoors. Same jacket.
The color images themselves appear to be true to color (to my eye) and reflect the actual colors of the jacket. Not sure why the outdoor photos of my jacket turned out the way they did, but don't go by those, go by the color swatches.

Matt,This is such a great idea. As I write this, it is 95 degrees at 6:30 in the evening in Cincinnati.

I eill be looking for your tent at Stone Mountain. I will specifically be looking for something to wear with my Stephenson Modern kilt - hopefully the Army fabric will work, as I would prefer to have a jacket with a bit of color. BTW, will you be set up there to take measurements and orders?

Yes we will be happy to take an order at Stone Mountain. (Although I will say that if you order now, you could be wearing your jacket at Stone Mountain!). :-)

To my eye, it appears that the "Sortino" is a sort of charcoal-ish gray, while the "Carini" is more of a Navy blue. Do I have that right?
 Thanks!
