Re: My new official kilt shoe

Darn my wide feet. The 'ideal' sizing for me (9 1/2-3E) is not available in neither the Gaffney, nor the Hawley. From experience, I need to use thick, cushioned inserts if I go with 10-D Florsheims. Even when wearing kilt hose.

Well you could find yourself in my boat. Just realized they don't even make them in my size (15). Guess I do have a belt sander downstairs, wonder what a 1/4 of an inch off the front of my toes would do as far as walking???

Protip: if you order these from the Florsheim website, you can use the code LINK20 for a 20% discount. That makes them about $135 with free shipping.

You can always dye them black.

Neither were the shoes being discussed, but a while back I ended up buying both a pair of brown shoes and black shoes. I think both are bluchers, though the black were being sold as "Oxfords."

You'll just have to get two pairs.

    Nick ,

A bottle of leather dye will make a brown shoe black.

Actually, as an old leatherworker, I would disagree about the dye. My experience has been that once a finish has been put on the leather, the dye doesn't often penetrate as well and you often may end up with mottling.

Re: My new official kilt shoe

I dig 'em. Can we see a pic with the brown brogue boots and a kilt please?

Broguing seems to be popular these days... I've recently even seen sneakers done that way.
