As a wearer of a Great Kilt, I get mine pleated within a few minutes. There is a reason why there are stripes in the tartans. As for getting the pleats to stay with a belt, all you need is a 3 inch wide belt that has an adjustable buckle. A Great Kilt is alot easier to put on than it looks.
