Nope. I used fusible interfacing that I bought at the fabric store. I'm no tailor, nor do I claim to be. I'd like to learn the skills and techniques of tailoring, but for now it's me, my 50-year-old inherited sewing machine, and my patterns.

Rounded? Do you mean the edges where the buttons and buttonholes meet could be rounded to match the cutaway on the jacket to accommodate the sporran? It could be done, although I think it would "compete" with the curves on the jacket.

No, the waistcoat is a whole separate pattern. The Simplicity 5029 is for a jacket and a kilt, but the kilt pattern is worse than useless.
