I have been full beard and goatee for over 45 yrs. I used to use a safety razor to trim up but now use a Gillette or Schick disposable. I shave as soon as I step out of the hot shower so I get a close trim and shave on where I am not bearded. I do use an old Norelco elec. to shave my head, have been doing that for years; couldn't stand going bald so just shaved it off. The one thing I do however is use a good moisturizer cream when done. L'Occitane Hand Cream actually. It's good for face and head as well.
