Random Kilt-wearers meetings
I was wondering, triggered by a recent thread, how often do two kilties meet at random, and how often do rabble members run into each other?

I only see other kilties at specially-planned events, such as Games or Kirkin' services.

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
If I exclude planned get-togethers, Celtic events, Games, Renfaire etc... maybe 2 - 3 times a month. I saw a guy in a UK in a parking lot yesterday.

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
I spotted my first kiltie in public day before yesterday at the Blues and Barbecue Fest in New Orleans. He was wearing camo kilt; but disappeared in the crowd before I could get a chance to say Hello.

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
I see kilted guys about 3 or 4 days a week (when they walk into my shop).

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
Or a slight slant on the Geoff's question - how often while wearing your kilt, did you bump into someone who said "I should have worn mine?" Does that count as two kilties meeting at random?

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
My wife and I go to a lot of local festivals (nonceltic) and I would say I see someone wearing a kilt about once in every three events we go to. I don't think I have ever seen anyone else wearing a tartan kilt at one of these events though. I see mainly utilikilts.

Rocky,
Being in your shop is DEFINiTELY a kilt related event. Doesn't count

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
Only a couple of times at random. I play paintball in a CEF unit at OK D-Day that has more kilties than I usually see in a year around here. This year there were seven or eight of us.

Re: Random Kilt-wearers meetings
I wore a kilt into my local Lowe's store recently and ended up spending 20 minutes talking with one of the salesclerks about his 6 kilts.
The only other time was on a trip to Sault St. Marie Michigan. I was in Tahquamenon Falls State Park and seen a guy in a UK.
