We have a local club here, and of course there is no mention of the kilt. But they do state that private function or not everyone will follow the rules or be denied entry, and that it is the responsibility of the Host to insure their guests follow the rules (dress included).
I've played there but never in a kilt, so when a friend my mine planned to get married there, he sent a copy of the code of conduct out with the invitations. With no mention of the kilt, I decided to call and ask. They were thrilled to have a kilt on the grounds.. golfing or otherwise. They said they kilt's were not mentioned, due for the most part because they were uncommon and created the written rules as a more general guide.
So I can't say if your Edinburgh club is the same... but never take no from someone who cannot tell you yes... give them a call and get the full story.
