Andrew, you sound like a friend of mine. He says he only has 2 drinks, the first one and the last one. The ones in between don't count.

That is some drinking logic your friend has there bubba. I have to admit that I don't really drink heavily that often. I am a 2 pint pub social drinker with friend most of the time. But come Kilt Night or any other event where I am out for the night I get into it pretty good. Usually no more than once a month. I have learned over time where my limit is and I try to stay within that limit. It just hurts to much the next day if I go way over board.
I am acually pertty good with the booze considering I am a Sailor. Not to stereotype the people in my line of work, but we do have a big number of drinkers in the occupation. I have seen how abuse of a substains can distroy a Man, so I make sure it never gets ahold of me. As Men we choose the path we walk and we control where we end up, not anyone else!

I always tell people that I would make a really bad alcoholic. I like beer and a few liquors but only drink occasioanlly and never get drunk. I have beer in my fridge that has literally been there two years. Someone gave it to me and I dont like it so I saved it for someone who might. That person hasnt come by yet though!

I do enjoy a good brew or Whisky
But I hate a hangover. With the exception of
a couple of Jimmy Buffett shows I've seldom
drank more than 2 or 3 drinks in an evening.
Usually only once every other week or so.
I do have a few friends who are kilted and don't
drink so you aren't alone.

-So one who actually doesn't drink. Yeah, the only thing alcoholic I have is some of the cheap Wal-Mart Nyquil knock off that has alchohol in it like the old stuff.
BTW, I'm not coming down on drinkers, I was just curious if I was the only who wasn't.

Never took it that way.

count me in.
Well you can count me in as a non-drinker as well. Candies, cough syrup and the odd champagne at weddings is the most I get.

I wouldn't say I never touched the stuff - I do like to share the odd bottle of wine with the wife or indulge in a beer or two on occasions - but I wouldn't class myself as "a drinker".
Besides, I've given up alcohol for Lent so you could say I'm a temporary teetotaller (even though I don't drink that much, its been surprisingly hard giving it up all together!)
Cheers

Elijah, I blame the kilt and the addiction of the kilt, it makes you want to drink scottish drinks and listen to scottish music
My Scottish partner in celtic radio here also doesn't drink, neither does our former Scottish pastor, both have seen alcohol abuse in their families and have good reason not to drink.
I enjoy a drink but never get drunk, that is sin for me.
I love the verse in Psalm 104 where it speaks of "wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart."
Beauty in simplicity...
but today there are health considerations that cause me to be careful about alcohol (and oil and bread). Wine is not as healthy as it once was.
So don't feel alone on this issue (I'm sure you don't). Whether one drinks or not is no matter, except for drinking to excess.

cigarettes and whisky
Sorry but I can't stand whisky, I don't like any spirits but vodka, (the Russian in me), but I do enjoy a 4 pack of Tennants Super (strong lager) now and then, I've been banned from vodka by the missus
When I'm out I tend to drink Stella Artois but still stick to the 4 limit. If I'm driving I drink soda water sometimes with lime, maybe it's me age but I'm beginning to enjoy that more than the beer.
Oh and for some reason I don't get hangovers even in my youth when we really tied one on.
Cheers Rhino
