Kilt-pin damage
As I have only just joined this site, please forgive me if I have missed something on this topic, but I do not understand how repeated removal and replacement of a kilt pin occurs. The purpose of a kilt-pin is simply to give some weight to the outer-apron and most definitely not to attach the outer-apron to the inner. Consequently, once inserted in the outer-apron, the pin does not ever have to be removed except in the unlikely event of cleaning of the kilt. If the two aprons are attached, the kilt will not "hang" properly as the wearer moves.
