I made one from Simplicity pattern 4762.
I had no sewing experience when I made that vest. Nevertheless, it was easy and it looked terrific. One caveat, I am a "Gentleman of Substance" and the large pattern was a bit snug on me. Now I just wear it open because I can no longer button it.
