I dont fit any of the above criteria, I will jump in and defend PBR. Oh and I use Android phones because Im a Linux user. Seems alot of beers have been thrown on the trend wagon, IE= Naty(nasty) Lites, the various Michalobe lites, Butt Lite, Miller and Coors lite and even Corona lite. I wonder how they can make the beers taste any worse but they do and the "trend setters" seem to think they like them. From what I understand in the northeast colleges is Natural lite=Naty lites taste terrible but are a cheap drunk..
For me lagers serve one purpose, summer quencher. Lone Star, Red Stripe, Shiner Bock and even yes PBR.. After a blazing hot ride, run or hike in the Missouri heat and humidity there is nothing better than a very very cold PBR. That is about the only time.. with one exception. THe photos below show me in Lukla, Nepal after 19 days of Everest base camp treking. I shared the local drink, chang, but happened on one shop with the blue and red can sitting way in the corner. I had to have on, even just for the photo op of having a PBR with English and Chinese on the label. It was warm so didnt taste that great but just the chance happening was worth it. That being said I am a drinker and brewer of fine ales, the darker the better, so like I said lagers are for those hot lawn mowing days. Cheers

But when I go to concerts now, and I see 24oz cans of Pabst going for as much as a pint of Guinness, my sarcasm nerve gets tickled. Pabst was cool because it was cheap, now that it's fashionable, it's no longer cheap, and the catch 22 is that the fashion is to look poor while spending loads of money in pursuit of that goal.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

I fully agree, the desire for a look overtakes our pocketbook sense. I often see people willing to sit in a brewpub offering fine beers and order a Butt lite. They even get mad when they cant get it in a bottle, like that improves the flavor. Think is they still have to pay the premium pint cost for their lack of taste in beer.

I'm 51. Some thoughts on the thread so far: Generally, anyone who has ever told me to act my age, was acting old enough for both of us.
I'm not trying to be "edgy", I'm trying to be comfortable.
Jeff: my favorite OGR t-shirt on the front has the OGR logo and a crossed pair of snow skis. On the back it says;
"All kids talk about today is getting "big air".
I say, keep your skis on the mountain.
You want "big air" kid?

[I wasn't going to post as I don't have a 'contemporary' kilt, but as Jock and others have weighed in I will too, on the 'old guy on the edge' theme.]
I'm 53, and since I got my first kilt earlier this year I've come over all 'tweedy'. I started looking for and found a couple of conversion-worthy tweed jackets for kilting, and a couple for regular wear.
I think I'm about as far away from "edgy" as it's possible to get, or maybe I've just reached the other edge...

COLD?! Cold beer is for the ones when you want to numb your taste buds becasue the flavor is not that great. About 50 degrees F is best, if you're drinking good beer. I do agree that free improves the taste of any brew.

Don't come to LA then, the beer at the Staples Center was around $12.50 for a small cup last time I went to event there Sorry but I'll enjoy a few before or after the game but I am not going to pay those prices. And I sure would enjoy a Guinness over a PBR, but such is personal choice.
