It was a toss-up on which was going onto my signature. Feet or pasmina!

Re: The dichotomy: the "Edgy" old guy just looks silly

I had my senior picture taken in a blue windsor style shirt, a tweed jacket and , unseen, of course, Jeans. I still have the shirt. I wanted to wear it to my 40th reunion, but it seems to have shrunk. I still wear nothing but windsor style shirts. It drives my wife nuts, but I keep telling her I like button down collars. She keeps buying everthing but. I have a lot of shirts I have never worn because they aren't my style. Most of my pants are still jeans. It just pains me to no end to shop for pants.

BTW...I wore a kilt to my class reunion. A few of my classmates kinda expected it. Most were surprised. My ex wife, (in the class behind me), made a couple of crude comments about it. But at least she is still thinking of me.

Crude comments merely serve to indicate the classiness or lack thereof of the commenter.

This makes me wonder... I'm getting a black hoodie with my martial arts school logo embroidered on the back for Christmas. If I wear that with my black Amerikilt, will people think it's weird... or just scary? Next question is- at 36 years old, do I give a damn? Answer is- NO!! I do not.

Listen...I just bought a black velour military style sport coat to wear for the holidays at H&M...thought it might be convertible to a doublet kinda thing but figured just wear it as is. Probably WAY too young for me but what the hell....live it up!

    Yes, pics?

I've seen that jacket and thought that it might even work with the kilt without alteration. And I suspect I might be getting a green cotton military style sport coat from H&M as an Xmas present that would also work with the kilt...

Re: The dichotomy: the "Edgy" old guy just looks silly

Sorry to put it off but probably not going to be in any shape to do any photos till Christmas...we're on def con 4 here right now getting ready for the holiday. I'll try to find time but I can't promise.

I just did an image search for it and it's not turning up. It WAS on closeout (like original $70, sale price $35 and 20% off that) so it could have been from their fall stuff...I see that they're already showing spring stuff on their website. Remember that the largest size H&M seems to carry is a 44R...which, fortunately, is my size. Frankly, I hadn't really thought to wear it with a kilt the way it is...even my daughter said it would be too long.

Honestly, I dont think that makes you look weird at all. I tend to feel more comfortable around older men who have a tad bit of a wild side to them anyway. I think that a camo kilt on a 50-something year old man is completely appropriate and even a little fun.

You could rock both the camo and the tartan Age is just a number. You are young at heart.

and I know that I am way late on this response...just read the first post though. I will catch up tomorrow. My bed and my Harry Potter movie are beckoning to me ;)

No worries about the pics. 'Tis the season to be busy, eh?

If the one you got is too long for kilting, maybe we are talking about a different jacket... but good for you for not being worried about it being too "young"

The ones I'm thinking of (both velvet and cotton, various styles) all have a bit of a sporran cutaway and are quite short in the waist. When worn open, they seem designed to hang wide and look reminiscent of a casual Sheriffmuir to me.
