Of course there are times when it's presented sarcastically (I work with a bunch of Army dudes) but that's in jest. For the record: I've never heard a Sailor say it to a Marine...probably as a result of the disfunctional naval marriage we enjoy!
For what it's worth: there are those that worry about what the Marines think about [fill in the blank.] The truth is that we don't spend much time pondering how we're viewed by other groups or whatnot... We're just regular folks doing regular things most of the time.
