I see that the jacket you bought is from a chap located in Blairgowrie (perhaps a member of the Clan Macpherson), which is where my chief (Cluny) lives (Newton Castle), and a place in which I have been many times! Very cool!

Yes, the seller's business is called "Clunie Classics", and I assume the name is no mere coincidence.

I also bought another vintage tweed jacket/waistcoat from them the other day too. I'm waiting for both purchases to arrive, and I will of course post pictures (assuming they fit well and need no alterations first). I'm excited.

Never seems to be anything with that nice of pattern to the jacket in my size that I can find there. Well, either that or when I do see something the bidding seems to go through the roof. I guess 44L must be a pretty sought after size in kilt jackets.

Just checking, the STM has a nice tweed jacket that seems to include the waistcoat- made to measure, apparently- for about $500. AT 230GBP delivered, the one from Tartan 4 Less is about 25% less.

A million additional questions leap to mind. I think I will jump into my time machine and snatch the Marquess's from APE's drawing board. I will gladly leave him about 20 pounds of human fat in exchange.

The seller is Tartanweb, i believe, and if I remember most of their jackets are sourced from St Kilda, although I have not seen this particular set on their retail websites. I have the exact same jacket and vest, purchased from a different vendor but in the same fabric, and love it:

Rocky's choice of tweed day jackets and waistcoats are around $100 cheaper than the jacket and waistcoat above, plus with USA Kilts, you have a rather nice selection of tweeds to choose from, and you know who supplied the tweed, and who is going to make your jacket and waistcoat - it is not some 'big' mystery.

Not to mention you can customize your jacket in regards to cuff style, flat-cloth or braided epaulettes, or none (I like either no epaulettes, or braided - I never liked the look of flat-cloth epaulettes), and either a 1, 2, or 3 button front.
