I just re-read your post looking for some kind of personal slight and still couldn't see one. I didn't think of it until you mentioned it, so no apologies necessary.
Everything I've read leads me to believe the kilt was first worn in Scotland. Where the little kilt was first worn, I don't know.
I don't like Newsome's style. Too biased for me to consider it a reference text. There are a lot of others that agree with him but state their case in a more logical manner.
