Kids in tartan visit Santa

[Santa Wally]

A brother and sister dressed in tartan visited this Santa at my mall today. The boy, maybe 5 years old, was dressed in black Stewart Royal trews, flat cap and bow tie with a white shirt. His younger sister was dressed black Stewart Royal short pant overalls and bowed hairband with a white blouse.

They looked real sharp in their outfits for their picture with Santa. Sorry I don't have a photo to post, it belongs to the family.

It is rather like pictures of boys with puppies and girls with kittens, there is an automatic cuteness. Put a kid in tartan, or sitting on tartan and the picture just looks better.

I wonder if we are somehow predisposed to be more receptive to tartan?

Wally I had 5 kids in Stewart tartan asked the Father & Mom if they were Stewart's. Well they looked at me as if I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about.

Red Stewart Royal is a popular plaid for boys shirts and girls dresses and I've had children visit Santa in the past dressed in that plaid.

This was the first time I saw a boy in trews and the mom and grandma were very conscious of their decision to dress the children to way they had. When I identified the tartan, grandma said she was going to visit Scotland and would buy a kilt for the boy while there.
