Alcohol seems a common thread in all their advertising and on line stuff...with a 25% off sale going on they may be hurting...just a guess.
Maybe I know too much about addiction, being a drunk, working with drunks and junkies...I ordered these two kilts in a fog - not a rational decision, well thought out - a fog...got the urge and dialed the phone....like a kilt zombie....
Beware gentlemen...the compulsion to kilt up in a new kilt is always lurking...and the passion for accessories seems so much less - but I think we spend more on accessories than we do kilts...so much less expensive...so easy to buy "just one."
Ha! You've got the bug! Now you know about some women and their passion for shoes. I can't pass up a good-looking pair of heels! Or handbags. Or scarves.
Now it's the tartans that get my heart racing. What can I do with them, what colors, where can I use them besides kilts? I have to resist the urge to want to upholster every chair, recover every pillow, and most importantly keep myself from wanting to cover a wall in tartan. Oh, my house could look just horrible if I didn't stop myself! Help! My name is Jocelyn, and I am a tartan addict.
You're heading into Hamish territory, Ron, with all of those kilts. We need a Riverkilt photo sticky page.

Oh no, what will Jock think???
Hey, if you can do it, why not! Enjoy your kilt addiction. Rather spend your money on kilts than booz and drugs.

Step 1. We admitted we were powerless over the kilt-that our Kollections had become unmanageable.

Yup, that's what I had them do when I ordered my Workman. It was expensive, but there was no way I could wear their standard length without looking like I was wearing a dress.
I've always been disappointed, though, that they seem to discourage the idea of having any customization done to their products. I had called them to ask if I could get a tan Workman, but with black snaps and hardware. They told me flat out "no", even though they offer black snaps on their other models. The same goes for using certain material colours that they offer, but on different models. Their answer was "no". They don't bother with customer satisfaction. They make only what they want to make, doing mass production, and if you don't like what they have to offer, take your business elsewhere. That's the sense I get from them, anyway.
This mentality seems to be at odds with kilt-wearing, which is typically a very custom industry. It would be one thing if they didn't have the ability or means to do these kinds of simple requests. But they do have the means. They just don't want to. As a customer, that really hacks me off. And it's the main reason I haven't ordered anything else from them. If they aren't interested in selling me what I want (not even for a premium!), then I will certainly oblige them by taking my business elsewhere.

Of course, here you are trying to warn a bunch of enablers.

Condolences, or congratulations, Ron, whichever you deem appropriate.
So I guess I will be seeing you at the next Kilties Anonymous meeting? "Hi, my name is Ron and I am a Kiltaholic." "Hi Ron"........................

Ron: More power to you! Keep buying those kilts, posting those great pictures of your travels, and enjoying life.
I may envy a bit the folks who buy lots of kilts, but I am not jealous.
By the way, I spoke with Kathy, yesterday, and in the course of our rambling conversation she mentioned what a good customer you are.

Re: Still In Full KILT JUNKIE Relapse Mode...
I've "only" purchased 13 hand sewn kilts from Kathy....addicted to quality done in the Traditional manner, with the shorter jones of a full time kiltmaker...think the only reason I don't have more is that I've run out of tartan ideas for now...

Re: Still In Full KILT JUNKIE Relapse Mode...
No Nova Scotia yet...seem to be varieties of the tartan out there to choose from. would love to find the "weathered" Fletcher that someone posted on line years ago but doesn't really exist...think it was probably computer generated. Then there's the Maple Leaf, and maybe the Quebec, or the Vermont....so many tartans, so little time and money.
