    Thank you,
I used to make all my own, but I confess to getting it from a supplier now, although sometimes I doctor it a bit!

You all aren't fooling me. I KNOW that no one is making any new fruitcakes. There is but a single fruitcake in all the world and it just keeps getting re-gifted from one person to another.

    dang...thats gorgeous.

I am really weird about chunky things in my soft food so I am not a fruitcake eater...but I might just eat that.

Yes, but not in time for Christmas.

What should I write on the outside of the box to keep the customs agents from "detaining" it? How about: "CAUTION: Fruitcake Inside" or "If you mess with this cake, a wild dancing woman will do a Schottische on your Adam's apple."?

Strange... I eat a fruitcake every year around this time.

Would that I could do a Schottische, but the best I can threaten with is a nice swift Seann Triubhas shake to the nether regions. Can you say bub-ble-GUM?

Re: who all has started making their Christmas fruitcakes?

I'm running a little bit behind on my fruitcake this year. But, I now have all the fruit and the concrete is supposed to be delivered this afternoon.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Re: who all has started making their Christmas fruitcakes?

I saw this thread when I was looking at the forum last year. I use a recipe from Ironman's cookbook for my fruitcake. The chief sweetener and liquid is apple juice concentrate. And it has dried fruit, instead of that maraschino fruit.
