Re: The dichotomy: the "Edgy" old guy just looks silly
When I look back at how I dressed through the years, (I’m 53 now) I find that the times when I thought I was stylish and impressing the ladies were the times when I looked the silliest.
I wore platform shoes or clogs, hip hugger jeans with a wide white belt, bell sleeve paisley shirts in the 70’s
I wore a leisure suit for my high school class picture.
I thought I was a cowboy in the 80’s.
I have since learned the ‘classic’ way of dressing.
I wear Carhart jeans and Timberland work boots at work. (classic styles that haven’t changed in ages)
Outside of work: chinos, oxford shirts, tweed jacket, cardigans. (classic styles that haven’t changed in ages)
MacLachlan Tartan kilt.
I don’t look at “old” men in Utilikilts and think they should act their age, but I feel I’m too old to wear one. I actually don’t like them but that’s another conversation altogether.
I think guys over 25 who wear oversized-straight billed baseball caps and low slung jeans are dressing too young but again it’s a look I don’t like no matter how young or old the wearer is.
But the Utilikilt is not an age thing with me. It looks the same to me on the young and old.
