Well, as a general rule, if one makes broad sweeping negative generalisations about a group of people, it can be virtually guaranteed that someone in that group of people might take offense. That phenomenon isn't limited to this forum; it's simply part of life. It should not be surprising to anyone that negative comments can cause offense. Should it? 
Anyway, I wasn't necessarily 'offended'. I just thought it was the type of comment that deserved a friendly rebuttal from the group being generalised. No harm done, I hope.
