Just picked up a bottle of 10 year old Laphroaig today before I went to work. The off the shelf choces were either stuff that wasn't on the "recommended" list or way above what I was willing to spend on a bottle of scotch. Saw several bottle priced over $100. I figure $40 aught to get me a decent dram out of it.

Should be a new experience for me. I don't drink often anymore, but even when i did and when I do ocassionally now, it's always been familiar ground, traditional american whiskey like Walker or Jack Daniels. Unless you count the stuff I get from my family. We call it "Last Run". as in "Uncle Allen says this is is last run on the still". A bit harsh on the palate, though!
