During the recent holidays, my wife and I hopped in the car with our two lovely fox terriers and drove from Texas to Raleigh, North Carolina to visit our daughter and son-in-law. On the way, we stopped by the Scottish Tartan Museum in Franklin. This was my first visit to Franklin, NC and to the museum. I was very impressed with how clean the town is and how friendly the town folks are to outsiders. The Scottish Tartan Museum is fantastic. The history that has been captured is something else. I especially enjoyed the Scottish-Cherokee display that shows how the Scottish farmers in the area made friends with the native Cherokee people.

After reading this thread, I mentioned to my wife I would really, really like to get that pin as a symbol of my time I spent in the Navy and as a way for me to remember my father and grandfather who were both career military men and participated in WWI, WWII and the Korean war. Anyway, unbeknownst to me, while at the Scottish Tartan Museum, my beautiful and thoughtful wife purchased the naval anchor kilt pin for me. And, Christmas morning, opening up gifts, surprise, there it was!

So…the anchor kilt pin has it’s début on my Mackay Ancient in March at the North Texas Irish Festival in Dallas.
