Thanks for the advice guys.
I thought it sounded a bit too easy. I'll look at chemical tanning as I'm not sure what the wife might say to the brain tanning...

Salted skins will forever draw moisture out of the air and will never result in a usable item. It will be nasty.
Go to vanDykes or Mackenzie and get a Lutan-F kit, follow the instructions, and you will have a great result.

You must have comparables in the UK, right? That is, if the government hasn't banned sodium bicarbonate, hydrogen chloride, and the like in their processs of "protecting one from onesself", as govenrnments are wont to do these days.

I'll try the new product from Tandy as thay're Tannit has been discontinued over here.
